Music

I've enjoyed the mixed blessings of living at a time that straddles two radicaly different epochs in music history. I am from a tradition that cultivated musicianship via performance and composition via concerts but now we are headlong into a frenzy of recording and duplication via MIDI and sampling. Both provide the audience at large with musical sounds but while the former tradition strove to expand the musical vocabulary the latter seeks to exploit familiarity born of derivative repetitions.

As I mentioned, it's a mixed blessing that has allowed me to experience mastering instruments sufficently to perform with them and recording technology sufficient to do without them entirely.

The music presented here is a mixed bag of examples that illustrate my determination to use whatever available tools I could find to get a particular job done. As such, not all of the examples you will hear are "final" and some of the computer "performed" tracks are sketches for eventual performance by musicians. Until those recordings exist I offer my sketches instead. Otherwise, the rest of the recordings are what they will appear to be.
